Athanasios Papadopoulos
Desk Analyst - Middle East and North Africa
Athanasios is an MSc student at the Department of International Relations of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). His main research interests include the interaction of Middle Eastern and North African states with major powers, namely the United States and China, political upheaval, security, violence, and political economy. His research focuses on how pivotal states use great power rivalry to benefit their own in their regional balance of power context.
His interest in the MENA region in the context of International Relations can be traced back to his undergraduate studies at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is also a political analyst and researcher for two think tanks in Greece, KEDISA—Center for International Strategic Analyses and the Association of International & European Affairs, and has numerous publications.
